WESTAMPTON - The township will hold its first Visioning Workshop meeting Tuesday to discuss the town's development over the next 20 years.
Westampton received a $50,000 Smart Future Grant from the state Department of Community Affairs to create a Visioning Statement, which will focus mainly on zoning and development of the Route 541 corridor.
The intent of the grant is to encourage residents to participate in developing a community consensus consisting of three main parts that will include: what residents want their community to be; where the community seems to be heading; and what has to be done to correct that trend to achieve the desired common vision.
The township and its consultant team, Kise Straw and Kolodner Architects Planners Historians of Philadelphia, have developed an inclusive, townshipwide public involvement approach for the project.
There will be three Visioning Workshop meetings, a series of informal "Community Conversations" and outreach involving the district schools.
The first meeting will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the municipal building. The meeting is open to the public. Officials said seating will be limited and recommended making reservations with Township Clerk Donna Ryan at 609-267-1891, ext. 6, or by e-mailing her at dryan@westampton.com.
Topics such as open space, school systems, commercial development, historic resources, roadway improvements, transportation, affordable housing, utility infrastructure and community character are expected to be discussed.
